Look at the scales on his back, his eyes, nose and mouth. It's even in the motto. Maybe it's herpes, oh no. This must be the worst eroded die I have ever seen. That is what caused this right, die erosion?
Looks like warts. And before you say it, it wasn't me that caused them! :goof: Interesting! :thumb: Ribbit
I would say lincoln has a very serious acne problem. I have never seen any thing like that before ,is this real. The only think that'a close would be a pitted planchet then again look like bubbles gas bubbles. Jazzcoins Joe:whistle::whistle:
Thats pretty ironic Handsome Toad. And funny too. Ya I don't have a clue. My thought is die deterioration. Thanks. dav
I forgot to ask, what year is it? If it's a post-zinc penny, it can be bubbles under the copper coating but if it's pre-zinc, I'm back to being clueless. :goofer: Ribbit
I just took a look at the first picture it looks like a long deep crater. I don't know if it's the pic, but that's weird. I have a lincoln cent 1999 with little craters on the obverse and reverse three to four of them with tiny air bubbles in the craters I did post it on another site and one expert said it was post mint damage. The funny think about it , one dent took out part of the date. I really thought it was a major mint error. I will post it maybe tomorrow, This could be post mint damage as well not sure. It's a 1971 P. So I have no idea. Sometimes pictures don't do justice but they're are definitely raised bumps.
You are about to hit your 1000th post. Your on 999. :thumb: And BTW Im going with mike on the rusted die.
Happy 1000th post, Mike! :thumb: And since it is a pre-zinc penny, I agree. It's about the only plausible explanation. :goofer: Ribbit
