I just found this at work. It's a $100 note. Series 2006 Serial number is 01223344 It has folds but is crisp and has a black magic marker blob on the top. I know it's hard without pics but since I'm at work right now I can't get one up. I will when I get home but for now what do you think it's worth is? Do you think I should buy it from my drawer? Do you think I could sell it? Thanks!

    kdkenn,

I don't think so. That serial isn't much of a fancy. If that leading zero were a one it would be. High denomination notes have to be ladders, solids or at least five leading zeros. It's difficult to tie up $100 even with a fancy serial. The blob and creases just doom the bill completely.

For some examples of fancy serials check out:

I guess that I thought that if the numbers were in order then it is a ladder. 0,1,2,3,4 Hmmm..... guess I'm wrong

Notes with that kind of serial number are referred to as "ladders" since the numbers climb in sequence. It has value to a collector, but the magic marker blob affects the value.

Okay I just checked out the site and think that I now know what a ladder is. That is a neat site. Thanks!

I did see this serial number on there 00001122 it's a $5 and is for sale for $25.00 Of course mine isn't in great condition but isn't it the same kind of note?

I do know that the folds and ink and the high denomination of this one that I have in my drawer hurts it's value to a collector but just trying to learn what is what.

I'm glad you took my post in stride kdkenn. People often see patterns in serials that just aren't worth a premium. Personally I draw the the line at mixed trianarys and quads. Is your bill a ladder? Well, yeah. The digits ascend in order. So do the #s 02456790.

As for "00001122 it's a $5" that's a trianary ladder. Personally I think that's stretching it. Four leading zeros I think is at least one too few. The fact that yours is a hundred just makes it not worthwhile.

Your bill has five different digits. It's creased and stained with ink. I seriously doubt anyone would pay a dime over face.

Buy it and hold it if you choose. You can always spend it.

kdkenn, I'm not trying to burst your bubble, that bill is not collectable.

NO I didn't think that you were trying to "burst my bubble". I was just trying to learn so that if I run across one like it in a smaller denomination without the problems that the one I've found has then I would know whether to save it. I value your opinion.

All my responses to you were questions trying to learn more. Nothing more than that. Sorry if it sounded that way. I'm trying to post quickly between customers.

    neat find!

    Definetly a ladder

If your serial number was on a $1 or $5 it would be worth a decent premium, but unfortunatly your note is already worth $100 as is, so I doubt anyone would pay over face for it.

I would keep those all day long if it were a small denom
