physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Holy Mother of Venus. Did some poking around and the price he's asking for them is not just insane. It's practically criminal. $495 for a "Choice BU" (which means MS-64).

    $1695 for an MS-65...... https://www.rarecollectiblestv.com/1964-d-kennedy-half-dollar-ms65-fdoi.html

At the price you would think that they would be sitting for a long time. Of course there are some dealers who have make a killing on everything they sell. I almost always run away from the those guys, but somehow they stay in business.

So eBay is selling an MS66 “First Year of Issue” 1964-D for a Buy It Now price of $139. So I guess a “First Day of Issue” MS65 is worth $1,556 more!

Nice! I was seven at the time, was very much a coin collector - I remember how excited I was when my dad bought me two proof sets for the year which I still have. These arent worth much more than was paid for them but I would never sell either one! I recall being in love with the Kennedy half dollar especially the reverse

Is that double or triple FMV ?

I realize TV time is expensive and he has to cover his costs at a minimum, but how can he justify selling something for 100-200% over FMV ?

Maybe this kind of stuff should just be sold direct or online or via an auction ?

The only ones who will buy will be the uninformed and fence-sitters considering getting into coins...folks who might take an interest in our hobby but once they get burned, are likely to become embittered and not spend any more time or $$$ on coins.

Anybody know anyone who ever bought a coin off these shows ?

I bought a 1971-D Kennedy one time. It was graded by ANACS at MS66. I paid $28 that included shipping. I bought the coin from the show just so I could answer this question. I have also bought coins from Littleton.

I edited to add a quick pic of the TV coin.
