So I just got a box of quarters and well I didn’t see the 5 until the whole quarter was out of the roll. Oh and these were customer rolls. image.jpg image.jpg Do I keep it for miscellaneous or put it back in circulation?

@CoinCorgi I believe what the OP is trying to say is that he is tired of finding worn 1965 quarters that appear to be silver at first glance.

Oh...now that makes sense. I was no where near getting that from his post. Look at the edge first. Maybe he'll like quarters again.

These are sad days for hunters of silver in circulation. The last time I received silver directly from circulation (in this case in pop machine change) was probably 1995.

Anyway, @Goldsayshi463 I guarantee you once you find a W quarter, you will enjoy going through quarters once more.

That is some pretty bad luck @ewomack. Last time I found silver in circulation discounting Coinstar finds or roll hunting was a 1960-D quarter at Disney in 2011.

Look on the bright side: that 1965 was a lot more durable in circulation than its distant cousin, the copper plated zinc cents post 1982!

There's nothing special about them as over 1 billion were minted. They also contain no silver.

Yeah, that must've gotten your hopes up for a 0-4. When I coin roll hunted before, I took a look at the edges first. Then, seeing a "196" wouldn't get my hopes up.

so you’re saying that a Black line with silver (40%) or silver line(90%) are telling me that is silver not just looking by the date right like this? image.jpg The one in the middle?
