I'm sure many of us get coins, mostly nickels, and sometimes $1 bills from non-profit organizations to encourage donations, and I just got this star note from the VFW, which I auto donate monthly to, asking for additional donations. Do I feel bad keeping it and not sending them more money? Absolutely not because I already give them a generous monthly amount.

It's not in the best shape as it has a fold and lots of wrinkles but the paper quality is very good, so I'll hang on to it.

So, they sent you this in the hope that you would more than match it in return?

Does it being a * note have anything to do with it?

Does the VFW know that you collect?

    Jes' curious.

Yes, they hope people will donate much more than the dollar they sent. The star note was just an accident and I doubt if anyone there had any idea about it. They are just given a stack of ones to enclose in mailings, and No, no one there could possibly know I collect currency.

Not bad for a freebie in the mail. I used to see a lot of that before I retired.
