A PCGS slabbed ultrarare Sac. 2000P Experimental Rinse (not the more common 2001P) sold on eBay over the weekend. It did not last long, a best offer was taken. Only 10 of the 2000P are known. It is in my eBay notification list. The asking price this weekend was about $3000. Of course price has nothing to do with value. Price depends on supply and demand plus a lot of luck and salespersonship. I have seen where one slabbed previously sold on eBay for $750. Anyone out there know of any non eBay sales? Non slabbed ones (most likely fakes) are very often offered by evilbayers. Ultrarare coins like this have to be great (40 years in the future) investment coins. These are more rare than a 43 bronze or a 44 steel penny.
It's "ultra-rare" crap no better than a First Strike, FDOI, Side A or Side B all because the Mint screwed up and the first coins that were produced were turning a puke greenish-brown in circulation. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who paid more than a few bucks for this so-called "experimental finish" was a bidiot. ~ Chris
I quite like the look of the experimental rinse dollars, and I think that they tell an interesting numismatic story.
It is a crazy world filled with idiots. They are all around me. Cushing WTI oil is less than $5 per barrel. Rumor has it, the pumpers will give it away if you can store it. They hate to shut down wells. How crazy is a stock in the current market selling for $282,800, down $1600 today. Ouch. What about a $82,000 pickup which includes a life time maintenance agreement? Price is driven by rich people, then need, greed, and fear. Supply and demand (as taught in economics 101) is low on the list but eventually wins out over all else. I think it is smarter to buy a rusty rare coin than a new pickup.
You have to go to eBay and do a search, then click on advanced, then click on old or expired auctions.... and so on. I will do it for you.. I am an expert at it. It looks more burnt than rusty. see pict.
