The R in LIBERTY is cut short...making it look like a peg leg...will get example in a sec.

Well, about the lowest you'll get a 1971 Silver Proof Ike is $7 and that's the bottom - they usually go for $8-$10.

My big question would be whether it's actually a PR-65. Proofs can be a very, very bad purchase if they're impaired in any way. For example, if it turns out there are a few hairline scratches on the proof, you're back to bullion price.

Finally, if you go to e-bay and type in "Peg Ike" in the search and then do completed items, you'll see that two did not sell at $8.95 and another one did.

While $13 isn't a lot of money, I'm not sure I would buy it sight unseen

I read it. But I was hoping for something more dramatic, lol. Maybe a clogged die that caused a large eye-patch of Ike's face? :D

"These peg legs are all the result of heavy die abrasion used to erase the clash images of the tops of the two L’s of DOLLAR on either side of the left leg of the R. In this process, the field of the die overlaying the serif-R is abraded away. Here’s what you want to visualize: the devices (design features) on a coin closest to the field of that coin will be the features on the die closest to the field of that die. In this case, the serifs arise from the field of the coin and therefore are the most superficial on the die and the first to be removed with die abrasion. This is not easy to visualize!"

I feel I never understand any of this BUT, if Die abrasion is involved, I'd think it would be rather hard to get Proofs over 65 of this kind. In fact, I'm surprised any proofs at all would be like this.
