Not to be obstinate (like my wife) but no. Not worth the trouble. Thanks for the interest but a better use of my computer time is looking at other's comments and collections and getting adjusted to the site. If anyone out there PCGS's Cheerios population report, I will appreciate hearing from you.
Okay, seeing this thread dredged up made me go back and check all the threads Hunting Rare has started. By my count, he's now up to at least six rare varieties that he's going to send to ANACS. I'm sure he'll be revisiting all those threads to post photos of the coins in their new slabs. Any. Day. Now.
If anyone is still reading this, I used my grandkid to help me decipher why PCGS has a 411990 "Cheerios Dollar" and when you open the item, an additional 147231 pops up. She did some research and together we determined the 147231 is the PCGS "FS-902" or "First Strike" designation. I looked it up and that is suppose to mean a coin minted in the first 30 days of minting. In the population reports, the 411990 shows the total of the FS-902 and the "Base". Therefore, I assume the "Base" must mean the Cheerio Dollars PCGS considers minted after the first 30 days.... perhaps the "non-pattern" or non-fine detailed coins??? Of course assume stands for making an ass out of u and me. I emailed PCGS for clarification. They came back and verified I am an ass.... Just kidding, still waiting for an answer. I still cannot get a perfect picture of the AU58 tailfeather details but rest assured it is one as it has been verified by a dozen or so bored family and friends. I am going to try to post a new thread on my theory of detailed and non-detailed Cheerios Dollars.
You are correct. It's not worth the trouble. It's not worth a new thread if you can't provide images. Not a Cheerios Dollar.
First strike? PCGS didn't start doing First Strike designations until five years AFTER these things came out/
I am 67 years old and still confused about coin grading and designations. What can I say? PCGS has named it FS-902. See the following link if it works. 147231 2000-P "Cheerios" Dollar FS-902.
That's too bad. You won't get good answers until you learn the camera and are able to post good images. Don't blame the camera. It takes practice and a lot of it. Buy a new camera and it still takes a lot of practice.
I was confused so I asked my grandkid where she got the info. She said to send you this... … key words here are that the coins must have been "packaged for shipment" from the U.S. Mint within the first month of their official release... From this link. https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/first-strike-coins-768371
Just out of curiosity, TD, was the obverse die marker ever accepted by any of the grading services? ~ Chris
I think the coin belonging to @Hunting Rare is not a Cheerio Dollar, and the coin belonging to @dennis5151 is a Cheerio Dollar. I could be more sure if both posted better pictures (zoomed in and focused)!
FS-902 is Fivaz-Stanton-902. Base represents the coin as designed. In this case the base is representative of a normal business strike 2000-P, except, the coin is designated Cheerios Dollar. I would have to agree with PCGS wanting the coin in the original Cheerios packaging. Having the coin in the packaging guarantees the coin has not circulated. Therefore, how can one have a Cheerios dollar if it is found in circulation?
