Would this serial number be a keeper?? I'm not sure if it's anything or not. It's on an almost perfect condition $5 serial number 34134134

I am not sure - but be on the lookout for radar notes and binary notes(just two numbers), plus I think ones with 4 or more leading zeros. OH and star notes. I know there are probably others - besides mis-prints, but I am not an expert. Please wait for an expert before deciding on this note.

Hopefully working in a bank you will do better on radar notes than me. Only 1 in searching for over a year. :)

Yep - I'd say keeper - Trinary repeater - you are going to need to buy some currency sleeves to keep your notes in to maintain the condition you find them in. Ebay has them pretty cheap.

When you say almost perfect what do you mean? Just wondering.

    Best Regards ~ Darryl

I do have one currency album. It's a small one and almost full so I need to get another one. Here is a pic of the note to show you. I don't think it's been circulated. At the top right corner you can barely see where there is a little black mark. And I mean barely. It's from a marker to mark the straps in our dispenser at work. Other than that there are not other marks. It's freshly crisp, no folds or tears or stains and the only thing I can see is maybe a small "wrinkle at the top where it was handled. It's above where it says note at the top. Can you see it? It's definatly not a fold. I'm not sure how to grade notes.

Thanks Mark. Yes they are hard to find. Even working at a bank and handling as much money a day as I do it's hard. Sometimes I don't have time to check them before I have to give them out to customers and I'm always afraid I'm giving out something that I would want to keep!

Keeper! Corners are crisp, note is uncirculated and the only minor issues are the ones you pointed to. I still have much to learn on the grading but I would think it would still get a CU grade but the real experts that have more experience with grading can weigh in on that.

Thanks for the picture - nice find...

Thanks Darryl, I'm keeping it. This could get expensive. I don't have anything that I've "paid" for yet but I do have I think about $50 in notes that I've found saved now. I'm not a great saver so this is different for me. LOL

That's it - don't think of it as expensive because you are not out anything. It is a great way to save without feeling like you are saving - just keep saying to yourself "I am collecting" :)

trinary repeater... how is that possible on 8 digits lol its close to a repeater, and its close to a radar, but its neither IMHO it is cool, but im not sure of any premium above face

Trinary notes with interesting number combinations can have added value.

    Example: http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-1-SF-Fancy...ryZ40029QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This note may not be a traditional repeater but especially right now with the color $5's having market interest I think you could sell it for a little more than a normal trinary note might get IMO. Just remember you would lose most or all of that to ebay fees :( I'd still keep it though - if nothing else to spend later when you see something you really want and need the cash for.

Soon that won't matter...all that will matter is what you can add to the collection to make it better....the bug still needs to bite big time!:rolling:

So now I have something else to look for. Pretty soon I am going to forget something from brain overload. :)

Just plain lucky today. Took these two notes in change. Just to bad they are Twentys. Put away a small bunch of $1 star notes. Hard to put away $20's now. May try to sell them I guess anything over face will do.

I dont think the 2nd twenty is worth anything.
its almost a radar, but not quite.

the first one unfortunately has a mean fold in the middle...

    no problem.
and I just looked up the star note just in case, but it has a high print run, so yeah
better off with some groceries IMO.
