Teletrade specifically says that the S/H includes insurance. No limitations or exception lines...Didn't know Canadians got hit so hard S/H if over $500.

Stack's just say they ship by Registered Mail, but can't find out about insurance on their website.

I am sorry for Richard's difficulty as it could occur to many others, but it certainly should remind all of us who have a shipment coming to find out.

On the ebay delivery question, I did read the URL , but does a confirmation delivery noted by PO constitutes delivery for ebay/paypal ?

If a seller can prove the item was delivered, via Delivery Confirmation, then they are off the hook. In Richard's case, they can't and because they can't, he is due a full refund to include shipping.

Any court of law would say the same thing.

Ps: Just proving it was shipped isn't good enough, it has to be proven it was received and received by the buyer. ;)

I purchased six coins so my total should have been 34.80. They charged me 30.20. Again, this was what was on the invoice they emailed to me. So I guess they have the right not to insure me over 3 dollars and 60 cents. I think this is really poor business. I'll bet just about everyone on this foram is buying from Heritage and not even knowing their not covered by insurance. This is a really stupid rule they have. The total with shipping and insurance should have been made clear........not hidden so that the majority of buyers don't even see the option for insurance..........IMO.

The insurance is included in the S&H, by what I can tell, so if they didn't charge you enough, that's their fault and not yours.

That point is MUTE because all of that is nullified by entering into a contract to sell on Ebay!!!! Ebay requires this, so as a seller, you can just forget what that Lawyer says, it doesn't apply!

I showed you where a seller loses those rights, you just didn't read it. Plus, Ebay doesn't give a seller the ability to make the calls, Ebay makes the calls and says what will be and what won't be, not a seller. As a seller, you should require insurance or do as I did, I provided it no matter what. I found it is cheaper to send First Class Insured, than any other way, so that's how I shipped stuff. ;)

I have read what you have posted. I see where you have interpreted it to say what you think it says. I do not agree with your interpretation and obviously neither do about 1/2 of eBay - all those stating that they are not responsible for anything beyond the PO UNLESS insurance is purchased.

So far as I am aware with my dealings, delivery confirmation has always worked.

I guess you and the other 1/2 of Ebay don't get it, insurance doesn't protect the buyer, it protects the seller! When something is lost, do you think the buyer makes the claim on the insurance? Nope! The seller does. The buyer makes the claim for a full refund with the seller, the seller makes an insurance claim and the seller has to immediately give the refund and wait on the insurance reimbursement.

So insurance protects the seller, not the buyer and on Ebay and if you sell anything on Ebay, you'd best insure it to protect yourself but as you saw, a buyer can still scam you and claim the package is empty and then you are SOL.

    Enough Of Ebay, Heritage Update

OK, I spent most of the day on the phone with Heritage and it's various management levels. Of all people to call me back.........Greg Rohan the president. Am I supposed to be honored? While it's not much more of an answer then I got from the others, It feels good to know that they are now treating this seriously. I told him to check my references with the other auction houses and dealers I do business with. I don't want to give any names, but one of them is a very large and well respected dealer. He actually called me to let me know that Rohan called and was asking about me.....How long have I been doing business, how much do I buy, have you had any issues with the buyer etc? I understand the desire to know if other dealers have had any issues with me but the question about how much business do you do should not be relevant....well again, there goes my opinion again. Anyway, still waiting for a return call as to what thier "resolution" is going to be. Don't get me wrong, Greg seemed like he was really concerned this and was very polite and compassionate. "Just got the call as I was typing this. Greg called me back and said they would be issuing me a refund." While I do feel a sigh of relief, I'm still really concerned that he made it sould that they were doing me a favor. Also, like I said above, they checked my dealer references that i'm sure played a huge discision in this. My point is that they did finally do right by me but I don't know why I should be treated like they have done me the favor. They have a department that does flag all the cert numbers on all the coins so hopefully they will be recovered when some idoit who trys to pawn, sell them to a dealer, consign them to another online auction house......or yes......even Heritage itself.Yes, the have had people steal coins from them only for those individuals to turn around and try to consign with them. While this may have turned out "right" for me, this was not good. I have spent almost a week thinking I was going to be out of my money, hours on the phone with FedEX and Heritage, as well as having some sleepless nights. I probably will do business with them again but will be very careful to follow their terms. You all should all be careful as well. Based on what I have read, this could have happened to any of you. Please don't think because you paid your invoice that it is insured. Thanks to those of you that offered your help and thanks to the one FedEx employee that placed his input into this. Now lets move on and talk about more pleasant things like coins, grading, grading services..........Wait now, if my post was this controversial, then I pity the guy who starts a thread on third party grading sevices:)

I have a question about all of this. Did Heritage actually say that was only insured for $100? Also, how can they say that S&H includes third party insurance if it was only insured for $100 at FedEx?

Anything you ship with FedEx comes with $100 insurance automatically! What that means is Heritage did not use FedEx insurance. ;)

    Ribbit :)

Ps: FedEx had to be the one that told him it only had $100 insurance on it. ;)

Fine, but that has nothing to do with my question. I am trying to learn how Heritage is handling their shipments not what FedEx does..

Glad it worked out for you ~ :thumb: ~ They could have made it more difficult and even though you had to jump through hoops I would not have expected anything else. If they gave a refund every time someone called them they would probably be out a ton of money pretty quickly. It sounds like they were clearly in the wrong and after looking at all of the facts they addressed it a manner you would expect from a respectable business. Greg could have had any employee call you but it shows a little character and respect that he would take time out of what I am sure is a very hectic schedule and address it personally. You can probably/hopefully bet that behind the scenes they are looking into how it happened and addressing it.

Again - glad it worked out and I hope they figure out who ended up with the coins.

    Darryl
