Welcome to Coin Talk. IMO the 2nd set of photos hide what the coin really looks like. I like the way it looks on the 1st set. If it were up for sale and I purchased it, judging by the 2nd set, I'd probably return it.
thanks for your thought, what do you not like about it? I really like the toning and think the detail is nice for a 55 , has a few rust colored spots on the reverse and I was thinking maybe it took it from being a 58
If that coin had been mine, I would have left it raw. The toning is just ordinary. The scratches are terrible. ~ Chris
The obverse has scratches in the fields and the reverse has small black spots. That's why I said I'd pass on it.
I like Morgans with some color, and I rather think the first pic/lighting exaggerates what the scratches/scuffiness would look like in hand. I'm thinking it's likely quite attractive in hand. And correctly graded.
I like my coins straight from the cash register or pocket. This coin wouldn't look good because is has too many distractions. Wear and character are one thing but I just don't like this one. Of course, this is a screen shot and it may look better in hand.
Scuffs, not scratches. Scratches would have given it a details grade. Nice for a 55, but not what I would buy. But if you are happy, that is all that matters.
I'm exactly the opposite. I think the second set of images make the coin look very nice. The first set makes it look like it has some nice PL surfaces but VERY baggy that would make me knock it down a grade or two for valuation purposes.
If I look close at the areas with the small scratches it looks like someone tried to remove the toning. Where the dark areas are missing I can see very fine scratches.
