I always greatly appreciate Al's contributions to this board. His posts are always extremely knowledgable and sometimes warrant a second reading for their insights. Have a good one!
For a second there, I thought @cpm9ball started down the path of the dark side and was showing off an ancient coin, lol. Happy birthday, @Al Kowsky! Though all I know of you comes from your posts here, I can tell you’re not old enough to have lost your eye for great coins. May you have many more years of good health and collecting ahead of you!
Maybe not, but some of you guys do deserve some recognition at least once a year. I don't know how many of you frequent the other forums, and that is why I choose to post certain B-day wishes here. ~ Chris
Many thanks to everyone for the lovely birthday greetings ! I spent the day answering phone calls, e-mails, & catching-up on magazines & auction catalogs. The day was pleasant & unsettling at the same time because of our self imposed isolation due to the covid-19 pandemic. It was also a day of reflection after losing my twin brother Henry last year. Too many of us, myself included, take the joys of life for granted & miss the big picture . I live in a small village, Churchville, NY, that borders on the town of Chili, that has a large high school & Christian-Liberal Arts college, Roberts Wesleyan College. So there are lots of pizzerias within a 5 mile radius of where I live . One pizzeria, Salvatore's, offers a free medium size pizza (8 slices) to their customers on their birthday ! So I phoned in an order for a medium size pizza made with multi-grain dough, Italian style sauce, mozzarella cheese, & anchovies (I love anchovies ). When I went to pick up the pizza I didn't notice the sign on the door, No one allowed entrance without a FACE MASK. As I opened the door the owner rushed to meet me, wearing a face mask, & asked me to stay outside . My heart sank , but after a 10 minute wait he brought the pizza to my car . When I got home I devoured 6 of the 8 slices with a glass of imported Italian Merlot wine. The pizza was great & my day was complete .
