1790-1840 Bhutan deb rupee. Copper, I think silver 'washed', which apparently gives it the almost black color when it ages.

 

Always loved the dark tone on this one

This 1877 Japan 2 sen has an even tone and finish which looks right handsome to me.

I have this Probus brockage with a beautiful patina on its negative side.

 

And this Maximinus II Daia follis of Alexandria, ex-Tom Cederlind, with just the right amount of wear highlighting the artistic designs on the dark patina background.

 

320-321 Constantine I. Is this what they call "desert patina"? Looks to me like a bit of red Georgia clay.

 

I think this is an Umayyad Fals. Have not had time to research. Similar desert patina look.

 

238-250 Western Satraps Vijayasena AR drachm. Sort of like one of Lord Marcovan's "circCams"
