My neighbour handed me a cloth bag of coins today that belonged to her late husband. In the bag, which contained mostly 1970's dimes and quarters, was a separate little cloth bag with a drawstring with this dollar inside. It looks like an uncirculated in good condition but for the 3 mysteries on the obverse, Namely the two large raised distinct shapes in front of Ike's face and the lump on the back of his head.
damage of some sort. For it to be a clash, it would need to correspond with part of the design on the reverse.
The one nearest the face looks like part of the lower wing pattern on the reverse but i can't see anything that would match the one nearer the rim
The eagle's right wing would be in front of Ike's face. http://www.maddieclashes.com/dollar-overlays/
Thanks, after looking at the overlays on maddieclashes.com as you suggested I have located three things that further suggest a die clash. 1/ There is an E under the B of Liberty, you can see the 3 ends of the E sticking out past the rounded parts of the B. 2/ There is an upside down L under the R of Liberty, again you can see the long upright of the L straight down the centre of the R. 3/ On the reverse there is an upside down T under the R of dollar, again you can make out the top of the T between the legs of the R and the bottom corner of the upright of the T sticking out of the top right corner of the R. Also the outline of the large shape in front of Ike's face can be matched to the same shape in the eagles wing but without all the feather lines. As for the long shape by the rim
I can see some of what you are seeing. I can't definitively say it is or is not a clash from your pictures. With the link and overlay, an in hand assessment is best. Good luck.
