You have a terrible attitude on here. You should never come into these arguments one sided. Why would u ask for someones opinion and then refuse them when they dont agree with you?? Im confused why you even made this post in the first place.

I'm not holding myself out as an expert but I have been collecting since the 70's. I have questions and comments.
Comments first. I read through many of the postings like this one and see some patterns. More often than not, the poster is convinced they have a rare coin error, or something previously unknown and simply looking for confirmation. Then argues with any dissenting opinion. Too many times turning to insults and jabs. Much rarer times, truly seeking advice and input from experienced collectors and experts.
I also look for errors, oddities, etc. in my collection. My approach is to make a starting assumption of what I think I have. Then I assume I'm wrong and systematically go about trying to find something, anything to prove my assumption wrong. If I do, I move on to the next coin. If I don't find anything, I proceed to the next level of verification and where that leads me.
Now for the questions. I'm interested in the "occ gas bubble" theory. If this were the case with this coin, help me understand how the bubble would manifest itself in this way, a line. I would expect the bubble to produce pressure in the metal and the pressure would be more or less equal in all directions, until the pressure subsides or the surface bursts. Wouldn't this result in more circular mark instead of a line? Isn't this type of occurrence primarily found in clad coins? Otherwise, there would have had to be an issue with the planchet first, correct?

You're open to an alternative theory as long as it supports your theory. My theory? You're a hypocrite! ~ Chris

An occluded gas bubble or other void related to improper mixing of contamination, occurs in the cast ingot. As the ingot is rolled into the thin strip for blanking, the bubbles/voids can elongate. So that's why the bubbles in the post #40 coin appears that way

Not so fast! You owe everyone beginning from Page 1 an apology for spouting your garbage and insulting one of the top error coin specialists in the country. What makes you think you can walk away that easily? ~ Chris

Chris do you think you are God ? You are the one that owes the Op an apology for calling him a hypocrite . What kind of a man get's his excitement from trying to destroy others with his dirty tactics and name calling ? With a friend like that no one needs a enemy in my opinion. You act like it is going to kill you if you yell PMD and later it turns out to be a real mint error. Anyone can make a wrong decision and when I do I will always apologize . I say give all the newbies a chance to find out what they have.

Who are you calling big sister ? Do you think calling the op a hypocrite was the truth ? Do you know what this makes you look like ? I can't say what I think of it on here I reported your post and I hope the op does also plus other members that don't approve of nasty name calling.
