I'm still working on my picture taking abilities, but I wanted to post my latest efforts on this 1795 British Conder token. I'll keep working at it and eventually I'll get a proper set up (fixed lighting, copy stand, etc.) or maybe not!
Thanks! No, not a restrike. One can find many of these tokens from that period in uncirculated condition.
I love all of the Pidcock's Conders! And this one is toadily awesome! :thumb: Would you happen to know how many varieties there are of just the Pidcocks? :kewl: Ribbit Ps: I also love the Spence Tokens. So many of them fit today, with what's been going on. :rolling:
In the D&H reference, they number from #414 (that is mine pictured) through #458, so that would be 44 not including various edge inscription varieties that would raise that number. Some are extremely rare and not easily collectible.
Exhibition is one and wasn't it the Exeter Exchange? Ribbit Ps: For those who are not familiar with the Pidcocks Tokens, this is a great read: http://www.tokensociety.org.uk/articles/tokens/pidcocks.shtml Pps: It was called both the Exeter Change or Exchange. I guess Change is short for Exchange and is probably British in origin.
That is quite stunning :kewl: now as for the Exeter Exchange have a read of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exeter_Exchange
Your second picture looks much better with the lighting and color :thumb:. The token in general looks GREAT! Love it - thanks for sharing
