Hey Guys, here are a couple of my pickups this week. The first is rather run of the mill an 1831 bust dime in AG/G condition except that it has a nice cud break on the reverse over the UNI in United. The other is more than words can describe, or maybe they can. When this caught my eye I didn't even ask to haggle, I said, "This is mine." The toning on this specimen is fantastic especially for a coin that is going to be 100 in three months. Please speculate what a TPG would grade this out at, because I am really considering sending this one in.
Not sure what it is exactly but something about that Lincoln just doesn't look right. The entire surface of the coin looks like it is very rough & bumpy. Could be the pics I suppose.
On the cent, with the flat field, square rims and overall sharp strike, I'll go out on a limb and say it could be a proof, maybe PR-64. What a great find, if it is. Two things concern me; the grains on the wheat ears look a little flat, and there appears to be a bullet hole (!) in Lincoln's forehead.
First of all the coin does have some nice toning . There seems to be no wear on the obverse in the cheek area and there doesn't look like wear on the reverse in the stalks. for toning and condition MS63 Jazzcoins Joe
Here's a couple under different lighting sources and angles. The first image you can't see a lot of the toning because of the angle. The other two are under florescent opposed to incandescent lighting.
I like both , but the Lincolns toning looks like it could of been done by extreme heat , sure hope I'm wrong . rzage
I like the little picture better than the bigger ones. Still a nice coin, but I would pick the bustie first.
