Sorry, harry, I forgot to answer your questions. I would grade it as VF30, and nice for that grade, and I wouldn't upgrade it unless you feel the need. It does appear cleaned lightly a long time ago. I think I would spend the money on a coin I didn't have.

Nice coin - vf20, but I think a tpg would grade it VF30. Looks lightly cleaned(or reclored) to me, but still a very nice coin.

Certainly a high VF, and don't be surprised if it goes XF-40.
There were striking problems with the 1877's and they tend to be graded by a different standard.

I agree with desertgem VF-30 , real nice coin , unless you're doing a high quality date set I'd spend my money on another nice type coin , but that's me do whatever makes you happy .

I know the reverse has a weak N in one on the reverse , is this the striking problem you were referring ? Also this is a very good diagnostic to tell the real thing from altered '77s . Notice the weakness in the N of one if it does'nt have it it's a fake .

Actually, no, but thanks for the diagnostic.
Another place where a weak strike is evident are the diamonds on the ribbon.
    They rarely come fully struck.

Very nice 77, that's been out of circulation a long, long time. VF-30 would be my grade.

VF 30... IIt looks much better than 30 but the wear on the ribbon and hair is evident... I'll trade you for my ''77 AG 3 (It's Graded!)

Harry, Yeah, I'd like to upgrade from my AG 3 but I've got to wait and buy other coins to upgrade my completed IHC collection.
