A Steel Cent Planchet weighs 2.8 grams
A significant weight difference from a Copper Planchet that weighs 3.11 Grams
So if that Cent is 3.11 grams or close to it then it is most likely plated.

This one may be worth getting checked out . There were a few 1944 cents made on the steel planchets

2.9 grams..... rubbed up to a magnet for 10 sec. took it off and the cent on its own picked up a paper clip for 5 sec.....so had it sent to be graded.......

i would hold a heavy magnet about an inch above this coin as well as a 1943 steel cent and both jumped very strong to magnet. same force....
