A Steel Cent Planchet weighs 2.8 grams A significant weight difference from a Copper Planchet that weighs 3.11 Grams So if that Cent is 3.11 grams or close to it then it is most likely plated.
2.9 grams..... rubbed up to a magnet for 10 sec. took it off and the cent on its own picked up a paper clip for 5 sec.....so had it sent to be graded.......
i will update as soon as i get it back...sent to anacs 2 weeks ago...1 week to go.. had a guy name bill from b&c coins here in colorado look at it.. he has been dealing for 40 years. and insisted to send..even thanked me for letting him see it....
dont have the coin to send pic with scale.....in 1944 brass bullet casings were used as well for cents...close to this weight but this steel had luster man its cool
i would hold a heavy magnet about an inch above this coin as well as a 1943 steel cent and both jumped very strong to magnet. same force....
