Hey guys, I submitted this 3cn recently, and want to know if the grade is accurate. What would you expect it to grade?
I would call it absolutely MS. Maybe 61 or 62. Hard to tell from these shots....... And FYI we do these all the time here. It's a favorite pastime of the CT crowd. We call them guess the grade. And you can post as many as you like. We all like to presume ourselves to be TPG graders... LOL
Yeah, I didn't want to call it GTG because I am not confident it is correctly graded, but I will not reveal my opinion until later . Sorry, they are the NGC submission pics. I will upload some better ones in a few
I agree with @Randy Abercrombie that is probably MS but without closer, more detailed pictures, I am not willing to make a call
@green18 @furryfrog02 @Randy Abercrombie Here are some more pics in natural light as well as under a lamp. As you can see there is a black spot at 10 o'clock on the obv, as well as some odd material from 2-4 and 7-10 o'clock on the rim. Not sure what it is but the coin did not grade details.
Much nicer photogs. Die crack on the reverse going through I? Not my specialty, but I'd hazard a '63......
Here is the reveal. I thought it should get a 63/4, but most of you had it spot on. It graded MS-62. Not sure how you saw the grade razz but you sure are one critical thinker. anyone have any idea what the “gunk” around the rim of the obv is? Would that be considered natural toning for nickel?
I sent a number of 3CN's in a few years back for grading. The ones I thought looked MS64 ended up MS62 like yours. Also, yours has a repunched date. I probably would have paid to have it variety attributed.
When I look at this thread on my phone i can't see the grade under the scribbles, but on my laptop it shows through clearly. Why? IDK
Yeah you definitely don't want to redact a document using photo shop or some other app. You actually need to black line the object before scanning or photographing sensitive materials. I know this gtg is not sensitive information.
