Found this 1888 Indian head along with a 1944 mercury dime at a fairground spot here in Michigan yesterday. The last 8 looks kinda different at the top left but I really don't see anything at the bottom of the 8 poking out. Matter of fact before I cleaned it up a bit I thought it was a 1883 because the last 8 just looked different. Not the greatest photos, plus still has crud inside the circles of the 8. You guys see anything? Or am I just trying to see something that isn't there? Look how round the top right part of the 8 is, seems strange.

When you say, "found it" did you metal detect it, find it on the ground, or was the fair open at the time and you bought it?

    State fair ground .
Covid-19, testing grounds for Detroit .

I think that's what the OP, is talking about ..

Normal wear to me. Or damage, however you look at it. Still a nice find detecting!

Not rotted out like so many detected finds. Well worn but still cool
