Today, April 6th, the 2020-W Weir quarters get turned loose. In addition to commemorating the Grateful Dead*, they also come with a V75 privy mark. I can't believe they release these less than 20 miles from my house and I've never seen one.

*That's a joke. Weir refers to Weir Farm Historic site, not Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir. But you knew that.

Well, I didn't actually find one, just reporting that they're allegedly being released today.

Oh. I read your post as you had found one in circulation. Darn. Well, good luck.

Meow does not get many Ws of any variety where Meow lives. Meow just found Meow's eighth. Meow would guess Meow goes through $800 in quarters just to find one.

Sadly, the Privy mark ruins them for me.I will keep my eye out for one, and be happy to get one, but I won't seek them out as ardently as I did the 2019 W's.

Well the 2019's were "New and different! Something never done before!" the 2020's are "Again?".

I’m surprised by this. My city is one of the release points and I found about 400 last year. I think I went through an average of $60 for each one.

I don't search rolls, bags, etc.
    I check my pocket change.

A am hoping to find or somehow acquire some of these "W" quarters without spending a boatload of money. Sadly, the ones released into circulation aren't likely to make it here in Wisconsin.

I got a nice Samoa bat quarter.
Never got a 2019 W, my city was a release point, and I looked for them.
Will look for the Weir Farm now. I'm not sure about the privy mark. Please explain.

As far as I know, the privy mark will add to the value since it is the first one from the U.S. Mint. It celebrates the 75th anniversary of victory (and end of WWII).

Those W quarters might be harder to find this year - lots of stores closed, most people paying with plastic, lower coin demand from merchants - buying $10 rolls from your bank's drive-by window might be the way to go now

I read that if you drive your big-a$$ Buick through the drive-by going the wrong way, it helps your chances. ;)

Makes sense - driving thru in the opposite direction would create that 6 ft. 'social distance'

So. I had read awhile back that the American Samoa bat quarters would be the last to get the privy mark, even though they were the first quarter of 2020.

The other night at work, a guy paid his toll with a bunch of quarters, mostly the new Weir Farm quarter, which happened to be the first I've seen, and one American Samoa bat quarter, of which I've received a ton the last few months as payment.... as I'm looking through them, the bat quarter had a W and I thought "cool", my first 2020 quarter with a W. I set it aside and continued to work. Later when I was looking at it again, I was shocked to see that it also has the 75 privy mark! How did this happen, when everything I've read said the bat quarters wouldn't be released with the privy mark until later in the year?

I'm just curious, as I can't seem to find any explanation online anywhere.

That's pretty interesting. According to this article in Coin World, they aren't supposed to be released until after the Tallgrass Prairie coins are released in November. Maybe they changed their minds?

    Can you post a photo?

I read somewhere here in a thread that the bat W quarters were going to be released with the weir farms.
