Experience with the product Conserv

So I have been on a waiting list for almost a year for Verdicare. A couple of weeks ago I read about someone who posted good results from using Conserv. So I ordered a bottle and it arrived the other day. Thing is there are no instructions on the bottle labels or any other instructions in the Box. The list of ingredients is very vague. I tried to look online for a MSDS to find out more but the only thing that came up was something I would have to pay for.

My question is who has experience with this product. Does it work on verdigris? How do you apply it? TIA.

That's what's nice about Verdicare, there's excellent instructions included. That seems like a trend today to not include instructions with a product.

 

There actually is a sentence about it being a rinse and to use a cotton swab and blot dry. Both of which are not the best way to conserve a coin. It basically says that it is a flammable hydrocarbon based product and use in a well ventilated area...

Based on that MSDS, I wouldn’t expect wonders from this product. It will probably take dirt and funk off, but not much else.

I have a bottle and tried the Conserv. Directions and video show him using a loosened Q-tip. Which gives makes me cringe.

For the coins that I do not want to touch, it seems like soaking for a few hours does help. I've tried a few hours in acetone with a distilled water rinse first. Then tried the Conserve for extra couple of hours.

On some coins that I didnt mind touching and playing with... the Q-tip method + conserve works shockingly well. It really cleans them with almost no trace to the naked eye. It will completely remove active corrosion and verdigris.

Yeah, that’s what I did. I almost did a before and after thread. I would soak for a few minutes then softly wipe with the loosened qtip. Repeated that several times. For some really gross stuff I would soak for a couple of hours. Be prepared to have a ton of qtips on hand.

 

Does it evaporate quickly? Do I need to cover the soaking dish?

 

No, it barely evaporates at all. I do cover it, but I accidentally left the cover off one night and it is was still the same volume in my little dish.
