I don't suppose that genuine ancient AE Sestertius were made from copper?
I'm looking at this one which clearly shows some copper color metal
showing through a very dark patina on some high points, this is a coin
I have at home which weighs 29.2gm size is 34.5mm
What feeling does one get when analyzing this coin???

Hummmm...some examples VERY similar to yours were sold not so long ago as "Museum quality historical replicas".

The 2 specimen above look like casted. This one is pressed :

Interesting, if troubling. Lot's of fakes out there.

Mine is very worn, with a convincing patina, so I think it is genuine. Heck if I know for sure. Note this one has a continuous legend on the obverse:

Well, Thank you all again, I am 99.999% sure the AE Sestertius I posted at the start of this exciting exploration, IS a Museum quality replica, my thanks to those who posted the samples of the other replicas, one this I am very adept at is Photoshop,
so I have done this before and I am going to try to upload an example of an overlay
I did so hopefully that all can somewhat get the idea what a match this is...
I used the lighter golden replica sample in an previous post, gave it a 50% opacity and laid it on top of my darker replica coin, so you can see through the lighter coin at the exact match to which is underneath, everything matches, the image, lettering & dots around the edge are a perfect match... the circular circumference
is off somewhat but that is a non factor, the pressed image came from the same die! Things are even more noticeable when one can click on & off of the overlayed coin, however I am unable to show that for you...
Thanks for all opinions and uploading the Fake coin photos for me to work with!
    Sincerely Steven
