Hi, I'm new here, but I have a Washington quarter with a S over D mint mark. I have tried to find some information on this in my coin book, and on the internet, but I can't find anything. Does anyone know anything about this? I can try and post a picture of this if it would help. Thanks in advance.
The only close I am aware of is a 46 S/S. Not knowing your level of expertise, is it possible the underlying is a S rather than D ? Sometimes when only a part of an S loop is beneath it looks a little like the curve of the D if it is North or South of the overlying mm. A photo would be very appropriate if you can get a large clear one of the mm area. Otherwise it doesn't help much. Jim
I have limited experience when it comes to coins. I bought several silver quarters just for the silver content and I found this when I was going through them. To me it looks like a small S over a larger D. The S is inside of the D more or less. I tried to get a picture, but couldn't get it to come out clear. Any ideas on the value even if it is an S over S?
