MS67 Your photos are a little dark and may be hiding some minor flaws, but even if that is happening, the beautiful EOR reverse toning should push the coin into MS67 territory.
I like this one best, based on your pictures, at 66. The mark on the cheek is distracting, in my opinion. If it has great luster, I could see it going to 67, but I'm finding it hard to accurately gauge the luster in your pics. That's not necessarily true. I've talked to Mark Salzberg personally about this issue, and he told me that a stellar reverse but an average obverse probably wouldn't get the star. If that toning were on the obverse, I absolutely agree that it gets a star. However, on this coin its 50/50 based on how the luster is.
For the record, the reason I didn’t give the coin a star is because not one of my rainbow toned Jefferson Nickels got a star last year. I don’t know what NGC needs for a star, it seems they have forgotten all about it. This coin deserves a star, but I can easily see NGC missing it.
67*, what a beauty I remember this coin now, can’t recall the grade but I know it had a very strong premium attached to it. Rightly so as it is very unique and attractive... I don’t recall ever seeing another like it with that Pyramid looking triangle on the reverse. Sweet EOR war nickel for sure
It was pricey, that's for sure. Unique not always brings a premium but this one looked special to me so I bought it. The funny thing is my 6 y/o daughter wants me to sell it so I can get her another Morgan Dollar for her collection.
