Received this in my change today, 1942 Mercury Dime. Not the oldest coin I've received in change, but the first Merc.

    Fantastic ! Congrats. :thumb:

I got a Mercury 10c in change at a garage sale 40 years ago and that's what started it all for me. I'll never forget that.

It is amazing these are still floating around. I also found one about a month ago, only the second silver dime I have found in change.

    Great find.:thumb:

I have collected coins all my life and have never gotten a Merc. But my wife doesn't collect, and she gets two of them in change in the same change several years ago, a 1944 and a 1945. Got figure.

I can see it now, the cashier says "whoa... here's one of those weird Canadian dimes... I'll just slip it into some poor sap's change and they'll never know... heh heh heh heheheheh..."

What an amazing thing to get in change. It certainly doesn't look like it's been circulating for 66 years - maybe it escaped from a collection?

Gee whiz Harryj... lucky man you are!
If any of our cashiers saw a Mercury dime they would probably think it is play money and toss it out.

Harry, you rock. 1st Merc in change reported since I have been here I think.

Now, send it to Spock and he'll turn it into a " 1942 Micro-S " with the S so small you can't see it unless you have Spock Vision.

( Sorry Spock, you had that one coming:rolling:)

I picked up a heavily worn 1919 merc (see avatar) in change about five months ago. It means more to me than most of the expensive coins I've bought recently. Reminds me of how I use to get all my coins back in the 1950's...
