I received a similar note from Elsen last Tuesday and am grateful they are thinking about the path from them to me.
I received two from Italy this week and have one on its way. I am not sure how soon to expect the on its way package. A part of my new coins.

Fundamentally we are in a public health emergency worldwide. We need to be patient and considerate for the health and safety of others. Coins can wait.

Earlier this evening I was looking into the tracking of a package from Japan (non numismatic item) and found out that mail out of Japan has been halted to many countries. US not impacted.

I got 3 coins on the way from 3 different auctions houses and some coins on CNG vault too.
Waiting with tracking CGB DHL from France to Belgium
Artemide Austrian post from Austria to Belgium
Naville Royal Mail from UK to Belgium with tracking
Will keep you informed as soon I receive each of them.
Big problem is not about only the staff but the lack of flights and some custom new rules with Covid19.

After all old collectors know surely how to be patient as I can imagine that in the past in the 1980 pre internet they were biting on list even with no photos and waiting long time to receive their coins.

Slow numismatic can be tasty as slow food is.

Won A coin from Aste Bolaffi 11/28/2019. I was told I would need an
export licence. I was told 6-8 weeks. Here it is April 5 and nothing. I
realize the world situation but they had 8+ weeks (Dec. and Jan.) to
resolve the issue, they said 6-8 weeks according to them back in Dec.
    Oh well.

Problem in Canada with FEDEX is that they are then stopped by customs/ resulting in paying 13 % HST on top of all the additional costs we pay for having such a low Dollar vs UK Pound:(

Inside the EEC there are no custom taxes and CGB prices include I think the VAT which is for antics 5 % and CNG send usually to all their European clients to their London office which then dispatch so they add 6 % to the bill and do all customs duties. CNG send registred by Royal Mail if I remember as do Naville in London which include the 5 % to the hammer premium and same for Artemide in Austria.

CNG have a euro account and put on bill the final price in USD so it is easy but of course depend of exchange rate but with euro against pounds the exchange rate is an issue too. I don’t know how it will be after the Brexit transition about pounds rate and taxes ?

If I buy from Naville or other UK auction house it cost me a bunch less in fees, postage and custom all included than NGC but I will carryon to bid at NGC as some coins are really what I look for.

I never bought to Vcoin so how it is with custom and do you experience same postage issue with Covid19 ?

As I wrote recently in another thread, I ordered a coin a week ago today from London Ancient Coins through V-Coins. They sent it via DHL express Monday morning London time, and it arrived at the door of my apartment here in New York City in the late afternoon on Tuesday, New York time -- just 41 hours later. Which is about how long it's taken in the past when I've had orders from the UK sent to me via DHL. So no customs issues, no delays. It was worth the $28 shipping cost to me to be able to get it that quickly, especially under current circumstances. I don't know, however, whether or not all the dealers in the UK are willing to use DHL. I have no experience with international FedEx.

On the other hand, I have little doubt that anything sent internationally in a way that it ends up with the USPS (U.S. Postal Service) -- such as regular international Priority mail -- would take quite some time, even if it's not sent by registered mail. That was my experience with a coin I ordered from CGB in Paris, through MA-Shops, that was sent by international Priority mail (with tracking) on March 9. The tracking updates showed that it arrived at the ISC (International Sorting Center) in NYC on Friday, March 13 (one day before the international flight restrictions were instituted), but it then vanished from the tracking system for more than two weeks. I then filed an online inquiry with U.S. Customs (which responded promptly by vigorously denying that it had ever held the package, and disclaiming all knowledge of its whereabouts), and a missing mail inquiry with the US Post Office. The next day, the package magically reappeared in the tracking system, which showed it as traveling from New York City to Columbus, Ohio on its way back to me in New York City! It finally arrived a couple of days later.

So my answer is: it depends.

Even in times when the postal system is not stressed I much prefer my coins that are shipped from Europe to come via FedEx or DHL. International Registered Mail seems to be a roll of the dice.

Me too I prefer shipment done by DHL or FEDEX. CGB ask only 12 euros of shipping cost and even in normal time they send to me in Belgium by DHL.

I am badly surprise that CNG asking 40 USD as shipping doesn’t send me last time directly from US by DHL or FEDEX , my feeling is still they made money on postage. If you ask to have your coins by DHL or FEDEX they told me that I will need to pay an extra. Strange as even during the Covid19 my friends un US that are running CEO of big corp told me that it is not so expensive to use DHL or FEDEX and that all is working ok to send to Europe from US and one of this guy have a corp that send over 12 000 FEDEX package to Europe this months without any trouble.

For those living in US wining sales in US how much CNG ask you for postage? Did they offer DHL or FEDEX or only US registred Mail ?

The last international purchase I dared making was shipped from Austria March 5th and went completely dark until the 31st, I had already assumed it was somewhere in the coronabyss by then, but got it on the 3rd. Indeed they were the last coins I've bought, and given the uncertainty in the world I don't expect my de-facto luxuries of antiquities and coins to store value during what may become a titanic inflationary and unemployment crisis in the way that shiny modern bullion will, so sadly need to pause collecting anything but metal (excellent sleeper deals on eBay notwithstanding) until things settle down and I stop feeling paranoid about the global economy.

I hope all of you get the pieces you've ordered and give us all more lovely things to look at in the coming weeks, but even domestically things are grinding down now so be careful with your resources and stay healthy!

It is not the time to buy or try sell your coins except if you are crazy needed psychological help or so rich that you want to waste money but it is better if you are rich to donate to those who need you money to survive or help medical staff rather than to buy coins that is selfish in the time being.

While it is certainly possible that I need "psychological help", I will continue to buy coins from as many small dealers as I can during this crisis. I have a feeling that many small outfits will go the way of the dodo because of his pandemic. This does not seem like a selfish act to me at all. As for helping others, I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I have done my small part. I have been cooking freezer meals (Lasgana, chicken noodle soup, beef pot pie, Beef stew) and some baked goods (muffins, pies, cookies, etc.). I take these and drop them off to those in quarantine. Yeah I know, how selfish of me.

I will continue to enjoy my hobby for as long as I can. It is one reason I have not had to seek the "psychological help" you have inferred that I need. Please do not assume that your opinion is shared by all of us.

We are complex creatures, to be sure, with motivations both selfish and altruistic. I don't see why it is not possible to pursue one's interests (ancients) and to help others at the same time, not only during periods of crisis, but also during normal times.

I continue to go to the farmer's market each week to continue supplying friends of mine with fresh produce, produce that is especially important for their son, who has type one diabetes.

Maybe oldfinecollector was making an unrefined but accurate point about right now clearly being a buyers market for fun but functionality impractical luxuries like antiques, collectibles etc.?

More broadly in different collectors markets I've seen items long unavailable appear again as collectors are forced to liquidate because of obvious economic pressures. Buyers like me all over the world are pulling back just as many others are getting pinched at the same time and forced to sell, thus oversaturating markets seeking a slice of that smaller pie of overall expendable income. Bad combination for sellers.

Just bought and already received this little collection of near eastern Bronze Age weaponry for 12.50 shipped. Total. If that's not evidence of it being a buyer's market right now and a bad time to sell I don't know what is.

Not advocating for anyone to avoid supporting valued businesses and dealers but clearly major moves are afoot. So be safe with your resources and especially your health!

There is no difference at all to receive the coins bought in the US. USPS is working as usual. But for the coins bought from aboard is another story. The mail that usually takes a long time- comes faster , I received a coin from Russia in seven days!!! But the coins that usually came faster- come back to the auction house or stuck somewhere between countries.

The coin from Themis Numismatics , which is located in Poland, came back to them .

Four coins from Zeus Numismatics in the Netherlands is stuck on “ The item is on transport to the country of destination “ for seven days now .

The two coins from Brazil will be there till the US resumes accepting shipments from there .

I’m keeping my eyes on a few coins in the upcoming auction , but if the auction house will not add FedEx or DHL as an option for shipping, I will have to pass .
    Stay safe my friends !!!
