If the mint called upon you to design a coin or medal, what would it look like? What denomination would it be? How large? What would it be made out of? Follow in the steps of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Charles E. Barber and design a coin of your own!
I would put my image on the coin and it would read members who beat the mods and the reverse would have cointalk written on it
Well it wouldn't have a likeness of a dead President (or live one for that) on it. Other than that can't tell you at this point. Let me sleep on it.
Like a 3 year old's drawing. I can tell you the reverse would have an eagle on it, not sure what I would put on the obverse.
I would have to have something along the lines of a winged female figure (like on the Texas commemorative) on the obverse. On the reverse, I would have some quote that I feel represents the America in which I still believe. Something classic and meaningful. No more eagles and presidents. Most of the requirements (date, mintmark, legend, etc...) would be on the edge. No more clutter on the face of the coin.
Size of Morgan and 90% silver used in regular circulation OBV: Pic of the earth as seen from space (USA side of course) with the tree of life growing out of the top.The tree will be maybe just a bit bigger than the earth.Maybe a tiny eagles nest. Roots showing coming out of the bottom and sides of the earth a little. Little mushrooms barely visible at the base of the tree showing the symbiotic relationship between fungi and plants. The only star will be the North Star unless more are required per law. Rev: Very similar to the rev on walking liberty 50C Edge:Large incuse letters-$20 (at bottom). Dream big, you can do it! 9oclock to 3oclock position(if it fits and looks good like that).
LOL, I like it!!! :high5: I would hoard those coins. I think my design would be on a coin like a quarter so it would actually circulate. I think stainless steel might hold up well and I would put a rendition of Liberty on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse. ( original, I know)
lol. I'd put a dollar bill on the dollar coins, and on the rest of the space put "there, now you can have both"
If I were allowed to design a coin? It would almost exactly resemble the one used for the Liberty Dollar.
I would design a $2 coin (ending the minting of the hated $1 coins and cease production of $1 bills). $1 will not buy anything. Making it a size somewhere between a quarter and half dollar to try to end the confusion. I would put Ronald Reagan on it (in spite of personal opinions he remains extremely popular and fresh in most adults memory). On the Reverse I would put a much better engraving of Mount Rushmore than was on the South Dakota State Quarter. Similar to the 1991 Prestige Set engraving, perhaps the same engraving. By eliminating the $1 bill and coin at the same time, it would force people to use the $2 coin. The maximum number in their pockets would be two before getting a $5 bill and keeping them fairly small should help quiet the complainers. Since the Presidential $1 Coin is mandated by law as well as the Sacagawea, I would make them available in mint and proof sets only. If the law had to be modified so be it. And for anyone who doesn't like my $2 coin idea, we could always introduce a 99 cent coin, because stores always sell their items on sale in prices ending in .99. What's that you say? Sales tax? Oh well, back to the drawing board! Vegas Vic
