    Lovely coins/ medals:)
This AV 25 Pounds from 5 piece 1969 Proof Set was struck by Valcambi Mint/ Switzerland.
At the time the Biafrans had seceded from Nigeria and declared their independence. The world/ UN again dittered while the Nigerian forces starved them to death.
These coins will forever show their valiant fight vs a tyrannical regime. image30406.jpg

I saw this on eBay this week and now it has arrived here. I really liked the big stylized “2”.

What a fantastic way of picturing your coin: as a .gif.

Like the sun rising from the west (if top of coin was north)...

From Wikipedia, I have this small nugget of information about the coin above and the one posted here.

The Krone (pl. Kronen) was the currency of Austria (then known as German-Austria) and Liechtenstein after the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (1919) until the introduction of the Schilling (1925) and the Franken, respectively.

    Coins
Coins included 20 and 100 Krone gold coins minted with the same standard as their Austro-Hungarian krone counterparts.

To ease the introduction of the new currency, 100, 200 and 1000 Krone coins were minted right before 1925 with the same parameters as the equivalent Groschen coins (1, 2 and 10 Groschen) that replaced them.

Here, then, is the 2 Groschen that replaced the 200 Kronen. I liked the first design better, without having the numeral reduced in size to make room for "Groschen".
