Featured Macro lens for iPhone coin photography

    No... that is actually just an empty phone case sitting there to show how this works... guess I could have turned it around? Didn't think about it. I was using my phone to take the pic..:yuck:
    I have 2 teenage daughters... there are more phone cases lying around my house than I can count. Scroll up to my earlier pic on this thread.. there is a purple case.. I guess they have to match their outfits? I really don't even ask anymore.

    I have one of these inexpensive clip-on lenses for my iPhone..
    First try on this Galerius (which I mis-attributed initially.. but that is another story)

    I do notice that the center of the coin has good resolution but that seems to fade away towards the edges of the coin.

    Perhaps its the distance between coin and lens? I will play around with it...

    Simple lenses do not have a flat plane of focus. Two or more elements or aspherical elements can flatten things and improve edges BUT there are optical laws that make even the best lenses fall off across the field. There are $2 lenses and $2000 lenses. We pick what fits our needs.
