This was an ad I saw on Facebook. I couldn't link the actual Facebook ad that had the video of the coin "opening" up... pretty sure it was the same video on Roman Booteen's website: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=288906765056848 (purposely NOT hyperlinked) https://raindew DOT net/products/1921-holy-grail-rover-coin I learned my lesson the hard way last year NOT to buy stuff from Facebook ads. I think that Booteen's creations are really cool... *way* too expensive for me (even the authorized replicas)... so this was kind of tempting. Then I did a WhoIs and saw this: Domain Name: RAINDEW.NET Registry Domain ID: 2451652494_DOMAIN_NET-VRSN Registrar WHOIS Server: grs-whois.hichina.com Registrar URL: http://www.net.cn Updated Date: 2019-11-05T07:50:57Z Creation Date: 2019-11-05T07:46:11Z Registry Expiry Date: 2020-11-05T07:46:11Z Registrar: Alibaba Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Oh yeah, I saw this mechanical coin on facebook too! Can I get some background on these? I have no idea where to start when researching this kind of stuff.
As fretboard pointed out, the FB ones are fake... and they most likely will never get mailed to you anyway. If you're interested in the guy who started it all, check these out: https://hotco.co/collections/roman-booteen https://www.instagram.com/romanbooteen/ https://mymodernmet.com/heart-coin-hobo-nickel-roman-booteen/
That's not very encouraging... from what I recall, he *might* be based overseas (i.e., not in the U.S.)... have you pinged him to see if it has been shipped, etc.?
That was a scam and I unfortunately got suckered. I bought, and received my package today. It came from Wuhan and the package had some random US coins (I don't see any way of posting pictures of the coins or package for reference). I'm guessing they sent something so the tracking information would make the scam even more legit.
