A Message to Our Valued Customers As the global impacts of COVID-19 continue to evolve, the U.S. Mint has had to modify its product availability to ensure the health and safety of its employees across the nation. Below you will find the status of products currently still scheduled for release: • The 2020 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set (20AA) went on sale yesterday, Tuesday, March 24. • The on-sale date for the 2020 American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coin (20EL) has been moved up from May 7 to April 9. • The Silver Proof Set (20RH), with the 2020 “W” reverse proof Jefferson Nickel, will go on sale as scheduled April 17 with initial limited availability of 190,000 units. • All other numismatic product on sale dates are to be determined (TBD). Please continue to refer to the Mint’s Product Schedule on our website for any updates. During these difficult times, the Mint will continue to fulfill its mission to protect our nation’s strategic assets and produce trusted coinage (circulating and bullion) while, at the same time, taking appropriate precautions given current public health risks. Thank you for your patronage and continued dedication to the United States Mint. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to you.
And there it is. The problem with the mint offerings for a long time. 'Initial limited availability of 190,000 units'. Buy with the hope that it remains at the unrealistic offering of 190k. They're coming out and saying the mintage will go up.
Got my notice that my silver proof set (with bonus reverse proof West Point nickel) will be shipped on April 17. I've got an annual subscription. It will be nice to get some new coins while stuck in quarantine
I was waiting to buy all 3 for the Jefferson nickels. The proof, silver proof and uncirculated. I don't see that they even have the uncirculated 2020 on their page. (Could be blind though!). I was trying to save some shipping.
I was on the fence with the U.S. Mint before... They almost got me to swing back with their "W" Lincoln cents last year... then they did the "W" quarters... now they're doing *more* "W" quarters... <sigh> I am officially giving up on them... again.
Yeah, I hear you. The only thing that holds any interest for me is the silver proof set. I've always liked silver and proof sets, so ... if they want to throw in a bonus gimmick coin, so be it. At $63, the price is getting hard to bear, though.
Nope, afraid not. Don't know why it's so high this year unless they think silver is going way up (it's not).
I forgot to order the Silver Proof set at noon. I just ordered it at 5:30 no issues. That 190,000 limit (or whatever it was) is no longer posted. It says unlimited. Little steep in price. Damn.
The 190,000 was never a limit, it's just the number available today. Proof sets have never had a mintage limit.
Yeah, but maybe I flip it on some 'stupids' for a Gazillion....... He never says that, and he ain't gonna do it.
