Yup I got a pennie roll on ebay and got a blank non rimmed copper slug.
It also weighs 4.10 grams. The scale is accurate..
    This forum helpped big time!

Ok I got 3 of these in ""unsearched"" role from the days before I was born routine.
On one side it's a little rounded and the other more crisp. These aren't rimmed coins and aren't magnetic. They weigh 4.12 g
Slugs? The scale is accurate as I weighed real copper pennys for comparison.

If they weigh that much, they are nothing.
If they line up with pennies in a stack, and aren't thick,
they have to be something denser than copper.

Blank Penny Planchets should weigh only 3.11 grams for copper and 2.5 grams for copper plated zinc. Your 3 "slugs" are not Cent planchets.

That's why I mentioned SLUG'S as I knew they weren't planchets from reading post's here.
The width is the same as a penny at .750 inch but they are thicker at .065
Wondering the reason why and where these came from?

My last message to the seller was "this will be my last purchase ever from you"
I can try asking for a chuckle.:)

This was in with other pennies taken in a purchase at our store. Is it a slug or planchette? There appears to be nothing what so ever on either side. It has a rim but nothing else. how can I add photos?

    Planchet not Planchette

Coin term not the occult one

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/planchette

A type 1 planchet is also called a blank, it's been punched out of the metal sheet.

A type 2 planchet has a proto-rim from being run through the upset mill.

They are uncommon but not rare. Planchets do occasionally slip through without being struck. The mint has given them out at tours. They were used as fillers in older mint sets where the packaging had 6 compartments and only 5 coins for that year. Most recently they were part of the 2019? Kids set the mint put out.

  12. I have 6 of those blank penny planchets. I tried posting one on Ebay a few months ago for .99 cents and it sat for almost 4 months with many many views but no takers so I ended the listing and never gave it another though. One member on here said it might be worth a couple bucks.....maybe so if you are willing to wait several months for someone to come along. For the record, they are not very rare actually. If they were how could I find 6 of them in just a couple or 3 years?

Tagging in on an old post is not the best way to get your questions answered.

Use the upload a file button in the reply box. Or copy and past it into the reply box. Either way.

What you should have said to the seller is, "This will be my last purchase ever from you. Please ask your wife to stop calling me!"

I've found blank penny planchets in coin rolls also. I used them to fill the holes in my penny album where I had purchased slabbed coins. I suppose it is a kind of "Monk" thing that the blank hole seemed it should be filled, since I did have the coin.
