Finally received this bill and thought I'd share it with others.

Not in the best condition, but I thought it was cool to own. My collection is all of the US printed one dollar notes, so this goes in the collection.

That’s unusual, only the serial numbers and Treasury seal (both green) are missing from the third overprint. Is it authentic ? I looked through Dr.Bart’s error guide and was unable to find another like it.

I thought both seals were part of the 3rd printing, along with serial numbers.
Yes I understand 1 is green and 1 is black. Here is a photo with 3rd printing on reverse.
And the second shows a missing 2nd printing. In both cases, both seals are part of the 3rd printing. Your four #5's should be missing as well as the black seal. (I think).

I believe I've seen others like it, but as to authentication, I'd have to send it in, which I may do as I have quite a few raw bills.

Of course I don't know, but I wonder if the green ink was bleached, and they
didn't know, or couldn't take out the black ink without it being noticeable.
Very interested to see if this comes back genuine.

Typically a missing third print error is void of all elements of the third print unless an obstruction is involved. The OP’s note is only missing the green elements of the third print. That, coupled with the back (green) also being faded is a strange coincidence and makes me suspicions.

Oh boy! Maybe a fake error in circulation! Standing by, just to watch

After you mentioning this, I did a little research and found a $10 missing the third printing and you are correct that both seals and 5's should be missing. I'll be sending this in but will have to wait until summer as I'm still snowed in and now with my Argo broken down, can't get to town. I'll post results when I know. A close examination of the bill doesn't look like the seal and serial numbers were chemically removed, but I'm certainly not an expert. We'll have to wait and see.

Is there any evidence of embossing on the paper in the areas where the missing serial numbers and seal should be ?

The “third” printing is actually two printings. One printing of the serial numbers and green seal, and another of the bank seal and numbers. They do not happen simultaneously. I think what the OP has is an insufficient inking of the green ink. On a CU note you can see the indentation from the serial number wheel on the note. This particular note probably has too much circulation to show that.

I didn't think they run the green and the black at the same time.
But since they are both part of the "third printing" it's confusing.

Nope. None and no discoloration on the ONE where the green seal would be.

Could be because I can't see any impressions, but like you say, it was well circulated. Thanks for the feed back.

The only flecks of green I can see are the bottom left serial.
But that is from a photo so who knows.
If Jersey is saying there are 2 separate printings on the 3rd printing, then
it would be missing the green print while having the black print.
