The only thing super about this is super magnification and which will show all sorts of anomalies that have nothing to do with dropped elements/numerals/letters, etc. If the question were about a die clash, then yes, a minor clash which appears in bays 2 & possibly 3 and below the left pedestal. I won't "man up" because there is nothing else to be told about this coin. And yes, I did look at the photos, all of them. I'm telling it like it is and how I see it. The only people who get hurt feelings are those who ignore reality and refuse to accept a majority answer. If he does not believe any of us, then he can pay the fees and send it in to be attributed.
After a better look at the photos I'm almost sure it is from a super strong die clash. If it is the obv. die has been changed out like on a coin I am the proud owner of. I will say again no one no matter how much of a expert they are should not shoot down any coin from just a few images of it.So again Aver i'm sorry I said what I said about your coin. Maybe someday you might want to send the coin to me , I would love to study it up close and personal. You can message me if you want to.
Sorry to say old friend but I believe you need better eye glasses. I know I need mine changed but on these later images some of the die clash does show up. I would love to see it in hand.
Some day I really should get a book. My only coin book is a 1972 Red Book that I found at work a couple years back.
I've got the 6th Edition. Have you seen the price for the 7th Edition (new)? https://www.amazon.com/Official-Price-Guide-Mint-Errors/dp/0375722157 ~ Chris
It's only a 7 if you rotate the coin 90 degrees. The bottom of the 7 would be damage as you can clearly see the cut with a small amount of metal pushing out on both sides (thanks to the enlargement) and the top left of the 7 shows a groove inside the O with the excess metal being pushed outside of the O (again, thanks to the enlargement).
Not even close to a die clash. There is nothing on the opposite side that would cause a clash. If you look closely you can see damage. Something scrapped the planchet causing an indentation on one end and the metal being pushed to the opposing end.
Dead wrong again . You should have taken time to read my post that you replied to post #23 . Didn't you see where I said if it is a die clash the Obv. die probably was switched out. the reverse die looks like has been ground and polished but a heck of a lot of the clash still remains. I have never seen a cent coin clashed so strong that the date is visible .
