After reading about Jack and RLM,s exellent (upcoming) adventure it got me thinking about my next coin show visit. There is the 70th annual INA coinshow coming up oct 11 and 12 in Ottumwa IA. I should be there on saturday and wondered if any of our IA or midwest members would be attending. It would be fun to get to meet another cointalker some day and this may be a good chance. I plan on scouting out some Canadian coins and possibly a Morgan or two and I am always on the hunt for the odd three cent nickel. Let me know if you plan to attend.
I'll be attending the INA show. I'm coming from IC and will try to get there at the gun. Tom Robertson, INA historian, is giving a program on Barber dimes at either 2:30 or 3:00. I talked with him the other day and the time frame hadn't quite been nailed down as yet. His program will be interesting and informative if you're interested in Barber stuff. Maybe we could get together, compare notes or grab a bite. Golf courses and coin shows always bring out the hot dog lover in me.
I don't know Ottumwa. Looks like 24,000 people in the middle of ....... Does anyone know if there's a decent mall for wifey during the events?
onehawk, I'll be in contact when the show get's a little closer. The show sounds like it should be good, a little bigger than the typical Ottumwa show I go to at the KC hall.
Oh man, I saw this one! Bad Bad timing! I've been to Ottumwa roughly about 20 times in my life. It's a few hour drive away from me and my uncle lives down there. His daughter is getting married on the 18th and I was thinking about going to the wedding. And of course the show falls on the 11th and 12th. I'd love to go but now I may end up going to neither. I believe there is a small mall in town. I don't think there's a whole lot there. At least the last time I was there. You might have to leave the wife at home. Viper, there's a small one coming up at the greyhound park in Dubuque, Oct. 19th. I'm planning on going to that one. Is that a feasible drive for you?
Vess1; I will probably miss the Dubuque show I think I work that weekend. To bad though. Pocket change; I did find there is a Quincy place mall in Ottumwa. I heard it's small but nice.
American Gothic House, Eldon (15 miles) Hey, we can get or picture taken in front of the American Gothic house.
You could probably get real close if you brought the kings private plane. The airport next to the Iowa speedway is big enough for small jets. You can fly in here and I'll pick you up.
You guys have fun, everytime I get to meet my online friends at a coin show, I always have a great time, and always look forward to the next one !
I hope to meet a member or two. Collecting is more fun when you can talk to people with the same interest and share some stories and maybe a bite for lunch.
No I don't, but I'll bet there is something decent. Ok I just read a review of Anzalyn's steakhouse. It sounds like one of those local secret type places. The reveiwer liked everything from the salad to the bread and on to the steak. Sounds like it may be worth trying. :eat:
