Hello fellow CTer's. I found this beauty when i was metal detecting at my brothers house. Let me know what you think. Post mint or mint error thanks in advance......Jon And closeups
Definately post mint. A planchet missing that much would cause a very weak strike on the opposing edge of the coin. Richard
Probably a cutco scissors demonstration. Those things can cut the rim off a cent and still cut tissue paper after.
Yeah i figured it probably was post mint it just looked like it could have been error. thanks all...Jon
lawn mower coin. I have a cuople of silver coins that look the same way. sad to see them abused like that but they were lost and now they are found.
Silver for the taking, sort of..... JON, I have to agree that it's cut. If you care to solicit some other opinions try: http://www.treasurequestxlt.com/community/ Very interesting site. I'm not a member and have never detected. Format is the same as CT. And for all CTers go to the site and in the forums check out " YOUR FINDS." The members find some amazing stuff. Relics, jewelry and some of the most interesting coins you'll ever see. The attached image is not the best but it's stunning. Sined
I am a member of that site also, LOL. i was just curious about the cut because it was on an angle. and i had never seen a cut that only disturbed one side of the coin. ie it flattened some of the detail on the obverse however the reverse looks normal. i just thought it looked like an incomplete planchet. like it was punched from an edge of the metal. not necessarily a clipped one thanks for all the opionions.
Tq Hah, small internet isn't JON? Well that cache of silver might interest some CT members. Treasure Quest seems to be a very cool site. It's well run and the members laugh & kid each other. It's well worth browsing. Denis
