American eagle silver half dollar proof.

since the one dollar silver american eagle proof is now expensive. why now issue a silver half dollar american eagle too. your opinion......

Not sure what the market would be for that, but syre, why not?

Last year Canada started issuing a 1/2 ounce silver bullion coin, the reverse design having a timberwolf on it, got one just for the look. Perhaps the US should come up with a half ounce silver coin, perhaps reviving a classic design as the gold and silver eagles did. Perhaps Seated Liberty or Standing Liberty? Both would look nice as a 1/2 ounce silver coin I think.

 

I think most people can afford to buy a proof 1-ounce eagle each year. I think the mint has enough different products out as it is.

 

Could always do like the Aussie's and do 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz & 1 kilo. (IIRC they do 10oz & 1/2 kilo too, but I'm not sure)

 

What is the point of a 1/2 oz SILVER coin....silver is worth so little nowdays (it could circulate at $10 though !)

That idea sounds great! I would like to see the same design as on the mercury dimes! It's just another way to interest more people to numismatics!

i like the designed on our trade dollar. or maybe the same design with current silver eagle. it is great and popular.

I say change the one ounce eagle to the trade dollar design, and put walking liberty on a 1/2 ounce silver eagle with a face value of 50 cents...

Would have two great silver bullion coins plus the designs would be on their historic denominations!

Gotta wonder though if the so-called "moral majority" would still holler about a Type 1 bare-breasted Lady Liberty. You think?? As for me, I would like to see both type varieties on silver bullion coins, as well as the mercs design, and maybe even an Indian Head (as on the old cent) silver one.

 

That would be neat, and probably be pretty cheap. Man, the mint has alll these products and things to come, and we're giving them ideas on more lol. j/k, I do like that idea.

i like to have half dollar silver coin for modern commemorative instead of dollar. too many dollar coin now. i also hope that the 1/2 ounce silver am eagle will come out soon.

why not?. it is a boom market. even it is televised by few channels. and certainly the coin will be keep going up and expensive. everything will have to be slab. not just capsule anymore. and it the future, the grading might be ms69, ms 69-1/4, ms69-1/2, ms69 -3/4, ms 70.

I don't know if they would or not. Nobody did last time an it was a much more sexually represive era than today.

i think if the mint produces half dollar american eagle silver bullion coins. it will sell more than the one dollar version.

 

When you started this thread elaine, I did not agree with you at all. I thought that the $1 silver eagle was low enough. But the way the economy has been going, maybe they should make half ounce silver bullion coins. Maybe with the Mercury dime design for the obverse?
