Yep this one made an appearance in the QC/NT vs MA/AT thread and had more votes for QC than MA, so I’m not surprised by the results of the no star vote.

    I’ll say yes
...it looks likes the obverse is pl, which would qualify it for the star

I'm not sure - how many of those scratches on the obverse are on the holder, and not the coin?

Any scratches / marks you are seeing are almost definitely on-coin. This slab was very clean.

    In that case, no star.

Okay, here are the results, most of you are correct. Clearly the Obverse if PL, but the reverse fails, hence the "close but no cigar" STAR.

Hey, you're learning and that's what matters. :)

By the way, the star can be awarded even if a coin is low end for the grade (per NGC see below). In this case, the coin also has a plus. So, NGC concluded it was a high end 62 and had a PL obverse.

"NGC defines its star ([IMG]) designated coins as those that have exceptional eye appeal. The coin itself could fall anywhere within the grade it is assigned, i.e.: if it were an MS 64 it could be at the lower end, mid-range or higher end of that grade"
