Nice coins! I'd say VF on the half cent. The cent I'd say MS something, but I'm not too familiar with grading large cents. Looks great though.

Half cent has F12 details but appears to have been damaged, thus it would be considered ungradeable. Large cent is a nice XF45 I'd say.

Half cent: F15 details with a few reverse marks that might hold it back.
Large cent: AU details, recolored, net XF.

I agree - but I want to see what pointed you to the recoloring. When I saw the reddish orange coloring(with the wear and just the way it looked) hiding around the devices I though recolored or cleaned. I was not sure I was right and thought I should get your input to help me understand better.

    Thanks

I think the half cent is an F, but I'm not sure what's going on with the roughness on the reverse...still a great coin to have though. The Lg Cent looks like a high XF to me. It's got just a bit too much wear to grade AU.

Nice coins. Gotta love the copper ! Neither coin has original surfaces.

    1807 1/2 c - F12 details, net VG8
    1847 1c - XF45 details, net VF30

Why ungradeable? Can't it be assigned a "net grade"? ANACS frequently does that with problem coins submitted to them.

F-12 -1/2 cent , the cent just misses AU ,a little too much wear on her hair over the ear XF-45 . Nice coins .

Yes, ANACS will do it. And from what I hear ICG may be doing it now. But according to ANA standards, NGC and PCGS standards, a damaged coin is considered ungradeable.

Maybe someone will help me out with a pic I'm not too good at slabbed photo's.

The coin has wear and is still red. In general, AU large cents aren't red, and it only takes looking at your own pocket change to draw that conclusion...Mike

When I saw this comment, I spent the rest of the evening scanning my change for Large Cents. :rolling:

p.s. what I should have said is this "AU large cents aren't red, and it only takes looking at your pocket change for AU Lincoln cents to draw that conclusion". Although in truth, you may find a few red AU cents in your pocket change, put them away for a year and they will have their color muted by the circulation.
