Whether you own them or not, what are you three favorite coin designs?

silver double nomos, noe, thurian, ( the one on forum)
I like the allexander III and athenian tetradrachms.

 

Don't know the name but it's a Greek silver coin with an Owl on one side .

Syracuse Sicily 8 Litrae issued during reign of Agathokleos (317-289BC), these are actually very close to the design of the Corinthian stater, the triskeles symbol below Pegasus is the main difference.

In general, I feel that the artistic rendering of a particular die of any given design is more important to me. I absolutely love Roman Imperial portraiture, particularly. But for overall coin designs, how about:


Lucania, Metapontum AR nomos



Sicily, Syracuse AR tetradrachm



Roman Imperial, Augustus AV aureus

 

I've seen the other two...but this one is new to me....very nice

(and the obverse almost looks like the Morgan Liberty)

 

Yeah, the syracusian engravers copied the morgan liberty !!!

Yea, they took a ride with Doctor Who and grabbed a morgan for their model.
