I was curious as to what some of your favorite notes are and what they cost you or if you found them in circulation.

The only 3 that I have saved are from circulation so they only cost me face value.

Well, I haven't been collecting paper currency for much more than a year, so my collection isn't that spectacular. But, I will share some of the notes I like the most.

Here is a series 2003 Philadelphia $5 star note in CHCU. This note was the first note I "bought" when I worked at a bank and it comes from a print run of 640,000. So, $5 for this one.

Here is a other bank circulation find. This is a $20 2004 Chicago star note and although it's fairly circulated. I really liked it because it was a 4 digit serial number. Not that special, but I wanted a colorized star $20 and the 4 digit serial made it worth keeping to me.

Finally, here is the nicest note in my collection. This is a series 1934A $10 Cleveland FRN that is in CHCU. Best of all, I got this note for the a price you can't beat...it was free! For those of you who remember, this was the prize in RickieB's Paper Money Contest several months ago...and I was the proud winner. It is still the nicest note I have and probably will be for some time.

Thanks for posting Richieb. I like seeing what others have, how they got them and what they paid for them.

I have looked at your album and am amazed. Actually after looking at yours and a couple others is why I posted wanting to know the amount paid for some of these if they weren't found in circulation. I just can't imagine being able to pay for some of these. Of course I don't pretend to know the value of some of them but can only imagine.

KD...it is not the cost of an object of desire..it is a matter of reaching a point when you decide to try and obtain an entirely different perspective or level of acheivement for your collection.
I look at some collections and I am just astonished at what some individuals have put together over time!

That is a huge factor as well.."Time" it will change everything you first start collecting...it evolves into that beautiful butterfly after it has been the catapiller, so to speak.

So be patient, save your money and think about what you want over time...it is then that your collection will sprout new leaves!

    Good luck..

Well this is my favorite note, it's a 1886 Martha Washington silver certificate that I have had for about ten years and was given to me by my girlfriends uncle. The note was his mothers, she passed it along to him and he passed it along to me instead of his daughter that I might add he loves very much. I was very humbled by his gesture.

Hey RieckieB, seen some action is a understatement but she's special. I do have some other notes but nothing in the caliber of your collection or some of the other folks here on Coin Talk. :)

:D I have too many favorites I don't own yet! I really want some high end Large size notes but those are going to run from the mid-hundreds to five figures. A little lower grades but still nice and you are down in the $250 range if you look hard. It's all about having patience ~ even when you have the money. Right now I don't ~ but the time will come :)
