hi all. I just recently acquired a 1690 King James II half crown, high VF. just curious if anyone could help me with mintage numbers for the years of this series. looks like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5756&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab=Watching -snaz
G'Day Snaz I've asked the administrator of the British Commonwealth numismatic Forum if he know how many were minted,he should get back to me soon with an answer I'll keep you posted regards Harry
I don't think you'll get an answer from anyone but a true specialist in this series. Your best bet would be to contact the owner of this web site - http://www.irishcoinage.com/GUNM1CAT.HTML
G'Day Snaz,The reply from the B.C.N.F.was the same as GD and that was DGJMSP link to the Irish coin site so I took a look and there was narda, nothing, nort hope you have better luck than this little black duck regards Harry
Yes there is, there is this - " The gunmoney issues were well recorded so it is possible to estimate the aproximate mintage of each month from the mint records and by applying a bit of reasoning from the die studies that have been undertaken. However because of the recoining of the earlier issues the survival rates do not necessarily correlate to the original mintage in all cases." That's why I suggested that you contact the owner of the site. While he does not list the mintage numbers on his site, I have a hunch he may be able to provide the info if he were asked.
