Does any of the experts in here have a top ten breakdown (analysis) of the top ten us coins. Just wondering HazardJoe~
Someone wrote a book entitled "Top 100 US Coins" or something like that. I think as far as outrageous rarity or noteriety, these are candidates for a Top 10 List : 1933 $20 1804 $1 1913 5c Liberty 1822 $5 1849 $20 MCMVII $20 ultra high relief 1894-S 10c Brasher doubloon ? 1870-S $3 1885 $1 Trade Oh... and don't forget the "Cheerios" Sacagawea dollar.
That would depend on your definition of "top 10". It could be a wide variety of coins and could differ greatly depending on what each individual collector collects. You could end up with the top error coins or the rarest or the most expensive. If you just want a general list, each members list will vary greatly also. The top 10 is more of your personal preferance unless you specify which catagory. JMHO

Without being date specific, I can only think of my Top 10 Designs. Walking Liberty Half St. Gaudens Double Eagle Morgan Dollar Seated Liberty Anything (Preferably Half or Dollar) Liberty Head Nickel Coiled (or maybe Flowing) Hair Stella Draped Bust Dollar Texas Independence Centennial Commemorative Buffalo Nickel Liberty Head Double Eagle No Motto
The thing about that is, all of them were melted back down. Obviously there's going to be rumors of a few examples that survived, but until I see one proven authentic I'm skeptical as to whether a coin that was minted, but then melted back down should be on a 'top 10 list'. Just a thought. I've been soaking up everything I can learn on Peace dollars since starting a set of them.
I have #8, more than likely, Copy/souviener coin. Also my, Avatar. Someday will send it in have if verified. Nice list.
top ten trade dollar morgan dollar walking liberty half flying eagle quarter barber half, quarter & dime franklin half kennedy half ike & anthony dollar american eagle dollar buffalo nickel others: some modern and older commemoratives some gold and platinum coins some foreign coins
fantasy error coins A nice 1804 US dollar struck on a 1652 Pine Tree Schilling might be on my list. If you include fantasy error coins like this, I couldn’t stop at ten. collect89

In no particular order and as I think of them, a personal top ten. (All rights reserved to make changes or substitutions at any time.) 1787 Fugio cent, the first coin authorized by the US Government 1793 Chain cent first coin struck by the US Mint. 1794 dollar first US silver coin and the US takes a step on the world stage creating a large crown sized silver coin 1848 CAL quarter eagle Struck from the first major shipment of gold back east from California and the first US commemorative. 1943 steel cent The only steel US coin (so far) 1851 three cent silver The first subsidiary legal tender US coin. 1875 twenty cent Silliest reason for a coin denomination, because they couldn't make change for 10 cents from a quarter because all they had were dimes. 1804 dollar (original) The US makes the first steps toward alliances with other countries besides Britain and France. Roosevelt dime any date for the March of Dimes and its eventual victory over Polio, graced with the portrait of one of the best known sufferer of the disease. Maybe the 1996 W would be a good choice. 1921 peace dollar, the last of the allegorical circulation coin designs. and the coin to commemorate the end of the "War to end all wars".
