boy are you guys a bunch of killjoys. Just thinking about what I'd need offhand, in addition to some starting stock of coins, trays, scales, display cases, a heavy duty safe or two, an alarm system, some nice lighting and some clip on lights, a couple of jewelers pads, etc. Albums and folders, 2x2s in all demoninations, some sheets for 2x2s some redbooks, and ANA guides, as well as some older specialty books for sale some loupes, probably B&L, then an odd assortment of world coinage and some "garbage" coinage for a bargain box. Some plastic bins for the boxes. Wow the dream goes on and on. I just wish I had the cash to get this up off the ground.

I started in this business with 1500 and went to every show I could and stopped by each shop in town once a week. So I can't say that you need alot of money. I was selling every item on ebay and only buying item that I knew would sell on ebay for a profit. After over 2 years I was up to 7000 dollars and I also covered all of my bills. A year and a half ago i went to work with my father since he owns a jewelery store and run a coin shop out of the store. It does take alot of money to run a shop as it is very easy to rack up 10k in inventory even if you tried to keep inventory way down. Also I currently have a client that is bringing in very high end SLQs normally MS 67 FH that is generally 10k purchases. I also purchased a 1918/7 S quarter in AU 55 just a few weeks ago. So don't under estimate that amount of cash you will need. We run a small shop but last month we spent just a hair under 400k.

Although it's been implied, "patience" hasn't been explicitly stated.

There will be (over time) some really good customers, and some people that-- let's face it-- you'll have wished never walked through your door.
