  1. I need help with the coin because for me looks like a doubled die. Sometimes I got confused with double die or deteriorated Screenshot_20200306-225203.png Screenshot_20200306-224912.png Screenshot_20200306-224942.png Screenshot_20200306-224639.png Screenshot_20200306-224625.png Screenshot_20200306-224631.png Screenshot_20200306-224425.png Screenshot_20200306-224437.png Screenshot_20200306-224532.png Screenshot_20200306-224544.png Screenshot_20200306-225203.png Screenshot_20200306-224912.png Screenshot_20200306-224942.png Screenshot_20200306-224639.png Screenshot_20200306-224625.png Screenshot_20200306-224631.png Screenshot_20200306-224425.png Screenshot_20200306-224437.png Screenshot_20200306-224532.png Screenshot_20200306-224544.png

Miguel, he means "Spend it. Spend it Quick." That green stuff is zinc rot. The rot will only spread. It won't get better, and I don't see any doubling, only PMD.

"When 10 photos of zinc rot won't do, try 20 !!"

No offense Miguel. We just like to make jokes and have fun around here.

Thanks for posting, and feel free to post any and all pix and ask any and all questions.

BTW, Miguel, I didn't vote because the coin is neither a Double Date nor a Mint Error.

Unless you consider the mint switching from copper to zinc for minting cents a "Mint Error".
Come to think of it, that move was an error, wasn't it?

    Not a Doubled die.

Stop jumping back and forth with the words double and doubled. .. One is incorrect and the other is correct. Only use doubled when referring to doubled die!

I'd bury that coin so it didn't contaminate any others. Just a lousy zincoln cent.

Spend it before it rots away to nothing. They can get sharp enough to cut your fingers.

@Miguel castillo ...tomorrow is your 3rd anniversary with Coin Talk...Congratulations!

...what worries me is: after 3 years you still do not recognize a worthless coin. It has way too much corrosion to even be considered. On top of that it is a weak strike with heavy wear and post-strike damage...why even mess with it?...Spark

I haven't posted my thread yet, but after I accumulate specimens like this I douse them in acid to create this alka-seltzer bubbling environment. The cents then range from light to super light depending upon how much zinc is dissolved away. The ones not too light are reintroduced back into circulation for collecting fun.

This particular cent you might need to get a tetanus shot after you touch it.

ooohh .. which Class of Doubled Die do you think this is and what specific identifiers do you see ?

Zinc rot is zinc oxidation. Zinc also oxidatizes quickly so rid of that penny. rip penny

That is not zinc rot. That is copper oxidation. I know that cause malachite or Cu2(OH)2(CO3)2 is always green.
