Where to buy good quality silver coin rolls

    Hey forum
Wasn’t sure where to post this but any info on where I can buy high quality BU rolls of pre 64 quarters? I know finding “original bank roll” rolls is getting tough and when you do find one it’s usually by that same guy who sells an “unopened” uncirculated roll of Morgan dollars with a 1889 date on the top coin and CC mint on the bottom coin (we have all seen that scam). With that said, I’ve pretty much given up on finding old bank rolls that haven’t seen the light of day over the last 80 years but I am looking for somewhere I can find a high quality roll of silver quarters that actually has 40 UNCIRCULATED mint state quarters all from the same mint and and same year. And preferably ones that haven’t been searched through with someone weeding out every last minor variety. Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but I thought I would check on here and see if anyone has a source they are willing to share. I’ll pay the premium price for premium rolls. I’m just frustrated with the last 4-5 rolls of “BU” rolls I’ve bought not only being AU55/58 range but also not even the same year/mint! Anyway, any help you guys can offer, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

I've had better luck finding rolls of proofs than true original BU rolls.

Oh for sure, I agree with you there, but I’m building a set of graded 1932-1964 MS Washington 25c and the coins have to be submitted by me (I cant buy any slabbed coins). But I appreciate the input.

I have been trying to build this set for the past 3 years. I have 35 of the coins toward the set. I have bought more than enough bad coins from eBay. I have also purchased most of the coins for the set through eBay. The few I have not purchased through eBay, I have purchased at local coin shows. The coin shows are good for in hand viewing. I got some of the early dates at the coin show, rather than, eBay.

After buying a few bad single quarters from eBay, I don't trust any rolls. Unless, the roll is offered up at melt. The bad quarters I have bought from eBay end up in a junk silver tube. I don't return them so the seller can sell it again. I quit buying the quarters with pictures in only a 2x2 cardboard holder. That is where I had the most problem coins. With the bad experiences I have encountered, rolls from online anyone is a no go.

My input for your dilemma is to go to the local coin shows. A lot of people bring grandpa's collection/hoard to sell. Plus you can network with dealers that will help you locate what you need. It is a lot of work to look through thousands of quarters, but, if you want to find the good stuff, it takes a little digging. Wouldn't be treasure if everyone had the shinny ones.

No reason, other than my own personal “goal”. I just wanted to see how nice of a complete set i can put together using my own judgement on grading.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. And agree, I love hitting the shows, but for some reason we don’t get a lot here in Oklahoma, 2 or so a year. I’ve hit the last 2 ANA shows in Chicago and Baltimore plus the winter FUN show. If I go to any more my wife is going to start thinking I’m having an affair! I think I talked the family into stopping by the ‘Texas Coin Show’ for a few hours next Saturday. Don’t know anything about it but will try it out. I’m going to go post on the ‘want to buy’ section right now. Thanks for the tip.

Sad...I’m posting a reply to myself. I don’t have enough post to list a WTB post on the forums. I’ve been here for years but this is only my tenth post. I guess I should start replying and giving my input on all the great threads I read here. I love coin talk and glad I’m a part of this community.

It pays to post but with 10 you should be there. Take your wife to coin shows with you, that'll take care of the affair problem. Lol As you travel try stopping in local coin shops.

Make sure you post some pictures of your set when you get it completed! I would love to see it and I am sure that there are others that would, too.

I have not dealt with them. I have other sources that I buy from. You should start your own thread in order to get more responses. Welcome to CT.

What show and where? There is one in Houston next weekend. They are only advertising 45 tables.

Thanks to your thread @Brent Miller I filled another hole in my Washington quarter album today. It comes with some unique packaging.

Sure! Would love to! Just like I loved showing everyone a picture of my kids when they were born. Here are a couple of my better ones I’m more proud of! Now remember I found these raw and submitted them all my self.
would love to! Like showing your new born baby pictures to everyone! Here are four of my better showings... I was very pleased to get my grade back on the 1932-S! I expected a possible UNC DETAILS SCRATCHED but it was one of those that could go either way, so an MS-64..I’ll take it!! The 1936 came back from NGC as a MS66, my highest grade so far is the 1948-S at MS67, and the 1950-D is also a MS66.

Is that just a super weak strike on the 48s? I'm having a hard time seeing that as an ms66.
