I've seen a few of these and some have the star while others don't. I've even owned a similar one that graded details AT (I'm not sure why as the toning pattern is well known).

I like the look but personally would say NO STAR
(slight lean towards no although I'm ok with them getting the star).

If it doesn't get a QC or AT, I'd say Star.

No Star, toning on proofs needs to be pretty dramatic to get a star.

Not big into toners, but give that Ike a star.

It is an attractive coin, but I do not think the toning is dramatic enough. No star

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The Lincoln cent probably has very strong cameo in places on the obverse, and the question is - does the obverse meet DCAM?

The answer is no. There are patches of weakness in the frost. It meets cam standards, but not DCAM.

Therefore, no star in my opinion.

I'll say YES to a star.
From the photo, it appears to me to be approaching DCAM levels.

Since it's been two days since I posted the proof Lincoln I'll reveal that it did get a star by NGC. I agree with physics-fan3.14 that that several weak spots in the frost (in the front of Lincolns coat) most likely kept this coin from grading DCAM. However, when comparing it to most other cameos, this one stands out at the top, and deserving of a star, IMO. I kind of look at the star as a green bean; it is at the top end of its grade.

I've been looking at a lot of cameo proof Lincolns lately and am disappointed at many cameo designated examples from both of the top TPGs; either coins lack enough frost on the devices or the fields are marginally mirrored. There is such a wide spread of both in many slabbed cameos. Considering the price difference between cameo and ultra cameo graded 1950-1964 examples (all series), cherry picking the best cameos can save one a lot of money.
